when i exec sendmail -bi, i get this: Code: Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail AIX5.3/8.13.4 supports version 10, .c f file is version 9 WARNING: local host name BUT, i still can not generate the aliases.db... While at this, under 8.8.5 I could hardlink an alias file and build the aliases using the alternate file instead: "ln aliases.master aliases.master.n" and build aliases.master.n.db. Sendmail checks /etc rights even /etc is not a basically sendmail directory.

Sounds to me like you need to initialize the maps for those to db files..
The mqueue is where your temporary mail queues are stored, it some process got loose and is sending constant email or the emails can't be delivered are left there. Oh, well.
