Job Description for Intern

Minocqua Winter Park, located in Minocqua, WI, is a not-for-profit town park operated by the Lakeland Ski Touring Foundation, Inc. Our mission is to provide a quality silent sport experience for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. MWP  provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain first hand experience in the day-to-day operations of a premier Cross-country Ski & Nordic Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

                     Articulate and promote the MWP mission to the public. Support MWP staff in planning, implementation, and management of programs, events, and facility operations. Staff the reception area/office. Further develop volunteer program. Recruit nordic ski groups as well as less traditional groups. Update and maintain computer data base. Research and assist with grant proposals. Assist with Nordic Kids ski education program. Attend staff, board, and committee meetings. Create marketing materials such as posters and flyers. Write and organize information for news releases and website. Assist Ski Patrol as needed. Perform other duties as required under the direction of the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prefer a background in outdoor recreation, leisure studies, teaching, or related field. Applicant should be able to work well independently and as part of a team. General computer skills, including MS Office, and outdoor program management skills.  Good communication, writing, and public speaking skills. Must commit to a 35 hour minimum work week. Experience with children helpful. Applicant must be flexible, able to adapt to a changing environment, and due to the nature of the ski business, be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED desirable.

One to three month intern position commitments are available from Oct.1 through March 31.
