2008 Wisconsin Wife Carrying – Wife Ferrying – Pike Carrying Championships

            September 20, 2008

Wife Carrying teams compete for grand prize of the “wife’s” weight in prizes and 5X the “wife’s” weight in cash by battling their way though sand, grass, log hurdles, and water obstacles.  Wife Ferrying teams ferry willing “wives” in wheeled cargo carriers along a 100 yard obstacle course for “wife’s” weight in prizes.  Kids (5-18), “Small Fry” to “Big Fish,” individually compete in a race through obstacles to win sponsored products equaling the child’s or teen’s weight.  To register online go to www.active.com  or www.midwestevents.com

INGA-LAMI Northwoods: Skiing for a Cause

            Sunday, January 18, 2009, 10am to 2pm

INGA-LAMI Northwoods: Skiing for a Cause is a fun, cross country ski event allowing women, children and (new this year) MEN (dressed as “Inga”) to unite in a charitable effort, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Girls On The Run and Women Ski Initiatives (MWPTF).  Participants can opt to pay a flat registration fee or collect pledges as a way to increase Skiing for a Cause fundraising efforts.  Incentives provided for participants gathering pledges.  Snacks and door prizes will be provided.  Participants are encouraged to dress in historical Norwegian costumes.  Download registration forms at www.skimwp.org or register online at www.active.com or www.midwestevents.com

2009 Lakeland Loppet

A very fun, family oriented series of one day race events for skiers of all ages, 8K CL, 8K FS, 25K CL, 25K FS, 4K FS, and the highly acclaimed Beat the Bunny (2Km FS for Nordic skiers 10 and under).  New, for skiers not wanting to compete in races, are the 8K CL Tour, 8K FS Tour, and 25 K CL Tour.  Special High School Team rates are available this year (minimum team size required).  LOPPET SPECIAL:  (For only $5) Stick around for next day Youth Ski Festival designed for youth 5 to 18.  Register online at www.active.com or www.midwestevents.com

Scrabble 'n' Ski, Cribbage 'n' More Board Game Night

 A 'just-for-fun' board game and ski evening. Trails will be open from 5-9 and board games to begin at 7. Come and ski and play or come and just play. Bring your own game boards to share. Snacks and beverages will be available from Rick's Hard-Wax Cafe. $5/person, $2/Season Pass Holder. (Fee includes trail pass, game event entry, and chance for door prizes)

Nordic Kids

Nordic Kids is designed for children ages 5-13. The emphasis is on having FUN on skis with friends and family while learning more about skiing.  Meet at Winter Park from 2-4pm on Sunday afternoons January 11th through March 1st (Not on Jan.18th nor February 17th). Wednesday Ladies Day

Ladies, each and every Wednesday is YOUR special ski/snowshoe day at Minocqua Winter Park. It's a great way to meet other ladies with winter recreational interests. $5.00 will cover the cost of a trail pass along with a complimentary hot beverage..

 Sunday Afternoon Skijoring

Our dedicated Dog Loop is open on Sunday afternoons from noon until 5:00pm.  Both skier and dog are required to display a trail ticket ($3.00 per dog).  Skijoring rules and a map are available.
